This will be my last post for the decade!
I wish you a happy new year 2020, luck, health, and all you can think of. Those shots, of course, aren't from 2019 fireworks, they will only take place in a few hours. But I'll be working and not be able to shoot "fresh ones"... Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com

Being in the beaches the last few days, allowed me to capture some surf fun...
Thanks to Nadia, I had even my personal model to play with! Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com Lyall Bay, during the last couple of days.
The weather was as it's supposed to be, finally, and the beach was rather busy. Here some more of my "side-shots". I know, I did post the White German Shepherd before, though the shot below was, initially, pretty out of focus. I liked the dynamics in this one more though, so I experimented until I got some acceptable sharpness... Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com I did some more exploring around Point Dorset on Christmas eve, here another one of my favorites.
Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com Christmas Eve 2019 was the first time I stumbled into this location, Point Dorset. Unbelievable, as it's so close to my regular spots. There will definitely be more...
The first image is a roughly 180 degree panorama, composed from 20 single images - and yes, those sun rays ARE real. The second image is a stitch of 9 images, just a few minutes before the Sun vanished under the hills behind me... Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com Boxing Day 2019
This was one of those images I call a "side-shot". I have been out on Lyall Bay Beach to photograph a friend surfing - and then this White German Shepherd "happened" just 5 meters to my right! Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com The weather was kind to us, and on Christmas eve, later in the afternoon, the cloud cover finally broke up. I decided to do some walking, and got this panorama at Moa Point. Clouds still heavy and brooding over Wellington...
Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com The weather lately doesn't really feel like Christmas. Not like the Christmas I used to know back in Europe, freezing and with lots of snow - well, the cold and snow more and more turned to mud and rain during the last 3 decades anyway, so it might just look like this right now...
And also not like the Christmas I encountered in the southern hemisphere - isn't it supposed to be Summer rather than Winter here? Still, it does make for some interesting photography. This was taken in Brooklyn, Wellington. Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com That's not a new shot, but when I stumbled over it just now, I thought it's worth posting on here.
This was taken at Tarakena Bay, close to Wellington Airport, sunset after a "mixed weather" day. The change between showers and warm, dry periods during that day, left the pools in the foreground half filled, the algae in them green and those white plants on the brim (no idea what they are) looked sort of "alive"... The sunset tinted this interesting scene in some vivid colors. This is a panorama of 9 single photos, btw. Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com Yesterday, sunset, Island Bay, Wellington...
It's always a pleasure to see the rough ocean and listen to the elements roaring... Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com I'm still getting used to have Christmas in Summer - not bad at all...
Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com Here one of my all-time-favorites, fitting the season. Only a few days to go till Christmas!
This was taken in Oriental bay, in September 2014. So it's some of my early work, and it was also part of my first exhibition in Artspace, Petone, in 2015. This was one of my best selling images, especially around Christmas - No idea why ;-) I might need to do some more exhibitions again, and will have to look out for some galleries. Meanwhile, most of my images are available as prints, so please contact me if you're interested: photos@wernerkaffl.com Sunsets are generally beautiful. I see lots of people around the beaches during that time, watching the sun go down and putting some light-show on.
However, I do like to look some left and right, and find out what else is there to see... Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com We had pretty bad weather last weekend, as mentioned in my last post.
But then, around 7 pm, the bad weather suddenly stopped. And I mean this literally, like someone turning a switch. Wind, rain, and thunderstorms, all gone and the sun giving us a gorgeous light-show. This image was taken in Princess Bay around 7:30 pm... Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com So, Wellington seems to be drowning. Strong winds, torrential rain, thunder storms... That's even too bad for me!
So here something from better days (nights)... Carter Fountain, Oriental Bay, Wellington. Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com |
