Here another wild water shot, Moa Point, just behind Wellington Airport.

We had beautiful weather last Saturday. All blue sky. This is a bit boring for photos though, so I steered my attention elsewhere. In this case just to the ground before my feet... It doesn't always have to be spectacular.

If you are interested in my artwork, please email me: photos@wernerkaffl.com One of the rougher days, not recent though. Atm there's no exciting seas, unfortunately...

Lots of work (yes I still need a regular job) and some chest infection during the last few weeks, as well as the lack of exciting stuff to photograph are the reasons why I had to check my archives for some gems.
This one was from a bright but rather windy day in Island Bay, Wellington. The sea wasn't too rough in this particular spot, but I caught this single wave a couple of meters away. It's still one of my all-time-favorites! If you are interested in my artwork, please email me: photos@wernerkaffl.com Here a moody sunset, a small stream along Kapiti Coast with the Sun setting behind those dunes. I liked the color of the light and the hues it casts on the water and vegetation.

This panorama is only 30% real as a photo, the other 70% are entirely digital. The second image shows a tree in Miramar, Wellington, just before sunrise. As you can see it's pretty over exposed. I changed the camera settings then, of course, and got a nice panorama in real light. But I couldn't help myself, i really liked the over exposed one, so I kept it. A while later I stumbled over it again, and decided to see what I could do with it. This was the result... If you are interested in my artwork, please email me: photos@wernerkaffl.com This was one of my very first big panorama images. With big I mean really big in size, some 79 MB as a full JPG. I also mean the coverage, which is roughly 180 degrees.
I was lucky that day, it wasn't too windy, though the clouds suggest otherwise. So the water was mostly calm and those clouds didn't move much. They just sat there, brooding. A good thing, because this was stitched from 15 (or so) single images. Moving things make such an image even harder to compose. If you are interested in my artwork, please email me: photos@wernerkaffl.com A while back I did some urban exploration, coming up with those images. The colors come from deliberately over-saturating the existing colors. They were there, but much fainter in reality. I just played around and did like the result...
If you are interested in my artwork, please email me: photos@wernerkaffl.com After all that calm water and Milkyway stuff, here something I wanted to do since ages. Don't be too hard on me, this is my very first try, but I think I'm getting there...
The stormy sea is from one of my recent shootings, the sky is a bit older than that, I believe I shot it some time 2012. If you are interested in my artwork, please email me: photos@wernerkaffl.com This is a vertical panorama, 5 images, shot at Taputeranga Marine Reserve facing Wellington Airport. The Airport is hidden to the left, only its strong lights showing. Those lights and so called air glow are responsible for the coloring in the sky - night shots can be quite colorful. You wouldn't see this with the naked eye, and the Milkyway won't show that strong either with so much light pollution around, but a camera on long exposure can make it visible!
If you are interested in my artwork, please email me: photos@wernerkaffl.com Another 'quiet' image of mine. Petone wharf, in a somewhat different perspective, on a sunny day.
I used a ND filter for this image (sort of sun glasses for a camera), which allows a longer exposure without blowing out the image. This results in the smooth effect on the ocean surface. If you are interested in my artwork, please email me: photos@wernerkaffl.com |
