Matariki Fireworks 2019 - seen from Petone...
Last year's location suited me better, but hey, I thought I give it a try. I'm rather happy with the outcome of those first images, even though the distance was about 9.7 km over water, which causes the atmosphere to flicker. Hence those images are less crisp than you might be used to from me!

This is from a while ago, a shooting in two different locations - South Coast and Percy's Reserve. I loved this session, been a lot of fun and those images turned out so well...
Modeling, makeup and fish-tail by Evie Another one, taken in Evans Bay on a quiet night.
This might be the last one till we have such weather conditions again. As always, this is available as print - it might go well with the Marina Image I posted on 17/06/2019 Last weekend I got myself a long needed camera upgrade, here my very first shot with new gear!
One of those beautiful buildings in Cuba Mall. Due to earthquake strengthening in the area, this was one of those that needed to be demolished. They want to keep the facade, though, it will be exciting to see when all is done. Here now the last one, for now, from Shelly Bay, Miramar, Friday 14/06/2019
This one, too, is available as a print, actually even as quite big print... Some more reflection-night-images...
As you see, I was out for quite a while in that night. To have no wind at all isn't common in Wellington, even less in winter, so I made the most of it. Especially my favorite spot, the Lighthouse, looks odd in calm waters, but so do the wharfs in Shelly Bay. I guess there will be some more windy shots on soon, enjoy the photos! Of course, those are available as prints, if you're interested. Last Friday, just after work, I picked up the camera and headed to Evans Bay.
The Moon gave some beautiful light, the sea was calm, no wind, and rather warm for the season. I liked not just the reflections, but also the symmetry the masts and ropes create with their mirror images! There will be more photos from that night, I was out for some two hours. As usual, my images are up for sale, please contact me if you're interested. Last night we had unusual calm weather, no wind at all and rather warm for the season.
So I went out for some reflection photos. Photography around the Airport at night is rather tricky, due to the planes coming and going. But turning an issue into a feature, I used one of those planes for light trails - Social media shows, people are rather fond of this kind of photography, though most light trail images are road based, like cars and buses. So I thought I'd do it a bit different and "lift" them into mid-air ;-) Oh there'll be more reflections from last night soon... As usual, my images are up for sale, please contact me if you're interested. Here a few more of my monochromes series.
The first and last one were taken in Miramar, Wellington, the second one is a panorama stitch of 28 single photos, to catch as much detail as possible. This one shows the waterfall in Percy's Reserve, Lower Hutt. Of course these are also for sale if you're interested! A while ago I had the pleasure to work with Anna-Lisa, in the studio in Trentham.
Just some fun shots, playing with light (or the lack of it) and props... Fitting to my last two posts, here some night shots. Those were taken two nights earlier though, wind coming from the North (the other two posts showed a Southerly storm).
This shooting was under rather miserable conditions, steady rain, and winds so strong, I had my tripod strapped to the ground and still needed to hold it in place. But I believe it was certainly worth the effort (... and camera/lens maintenance combined with personal warm-up)! As usual, those are also for sale, please contact me if you're interested. As promised, here some images of the storm I posted recently. Those were taken around sunset. Some more of both shooting times will follow soon, enjoy!
Of course, those are also available as prints. Please contact me if you're interested! 2nd of June, quite some strong southerly winds, and of course I was down the coast again.
As the title of this entry suggests, there will be an evening version too, soon... Maybe this could be a new definition for the expression "Water-Colors" Meanwhile enjoy the daylight ones, roaring waves spray and a bit of the South Island! |
