As it's greyish, cold and wet in our capital at the moment, I dug out some older pics to lighten this place up again.
Taken in January 2015, from Strathmore, Wellington, above the Airport, overlooking Lyall Bay and Princess Bay,
No, this isn't something you would usually see in the sky.
This is called a cloud stack. It's a composite of 64 single photos, exposure time 5 seconds each, time difference between them 5 seconds, overlaying each other. The result is an image where you can see the cloud movement, in this case over a time frame of a bit more than 10 minutes.
Cuba Barbers in Wellington opens a new shop this week, Michael, the owner, is a musician as well, so there are instruments in all his shops.
As the interior wasn't quite finished when I had a look last week, I thought I just capture some details, I'm quite happy with the results...
Those two panoramas were six days and 3.5 KMs apart. The stormy one is from last night, my first try on a Wave-Panorama (if such a thing actually exists - if not, then I obviously invented it). It's stitched from 18 handheld portrait shots, using a Tamron 70-300 mm at approximately 100 mm.
The reason for handheld is, I had to follow the Waves quickly - and I didn't have my tripos with me ;-)
Not the highest Waves I've seen here, but coming in faster... Raging Waters and angry Swells in Wellington today.
Today I had opportunity to witness and photograph the delivery of a Petition to demand better Mental Health Education in all NZ Schools.
This project was initiated and organized by Lucy McSweeney and managed by ActionStation.
The Petition was presented to MP David Seymour (Act MP and Education Ministry Under Secretary), also attending were Catherine Delahunty (Greens MP), Barry Coates (Greens MP), Chris Bishop (National MP) and local media.
