Well, being locked up at home, there's not much one can do. Accounting and home chores are done, so, maybe a bit of playing...
I posted the original panorama a while back. But, I got the feeling I could get more out of it, so I sat down and started to work. This was actually some 6 hours of additional work, removing parked cars, street lighting, lines on the road, as well as the reflections of the lines/cars in the windows... Finding a 20 year old image of myself on a horse, a cart, combining all this, creating shadows, etc... Two versions now, vintage and modern... I personally prefer the vintage one! Enjoy and stay safe!

Next one of my Newtown series - though taken in 2018, evening, just after sunset!
For the tech interested, this is a panorama of 13 individual shots in portrait mode. Canon EOS 6d M1, Sigma 24 mm F1.4 ART lens. Stay home, and if you really need to go outside keep, your distance, stay safe! Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com However, prints will have to wait till things are back to normal. This was taken in Newtown, yesterday, March 26 around 11 AM.
No, I wasn't walking aimlessly around, but had my mask on and came out of the supermarket (6 meters behind me), on my way home (across the road, to the right). Odd to see this place so deserted this time of year and time of day. Good that people seem to take it seriously, though today it was already busier again. Wild wild West, aye? The lockdown is only a few hours away.
This means not many new photos, apart from some in my area. Here a few from last Saturday, some roughish weather and beautiful colors. People, please stay home, stay safe, and DO NO panic shopping. We are in no food shortage, and food will continue through into the supermarkets. There is no point in filling your whole garage and attic... It's a few weeks, not the Apocaypse! Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com However, prints will have to wait till things are back to normal. I had some spare time these last days. Business in general is going down everywhere.
So I used my time to be a bit creative. I hope some otherworld science fiction lifts your spirits a bit. Btw, the landscape is real, only Jupiter wasn't - at least not that size ;-) If you go shopping, don't empty the shelves, others need food too - and 3 trolleys of toilet paper won't protect you more than one pack! Stay safe everyone! Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com As the general outlook seems quite bleak at the moment, I thought I'll just come up with some images to lift the spirits!
Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com On short notice I managed to take some photos for my friend Sam Manzanza. He needs to get those to a newspaper by tomorrow - and I had some spare time, so off we went.
He will be one of the artists on Africa Day in Wellington, on May 9th on Queens Wharf, noon onward. I will also be around taking photos, come enjoy yourselves, have some nice food and listen to African music! We had a good time shooting some portraits around Miramar, Wellington. It's been a while for me, but Natalie was pretty convincing, the weather was awesome and we had fun!
Of course bookings are welcome, please contact me if you're interested: photos@wernerkaffl.com Just around the corner from my place. It was a beautiful day, though, from a photographers' view, it's been pretty harsh light. And also pretty packed, not easy for photos, but fun to be there again.
Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com When photographing the sunset on Wellington south coast a few days ago, I also captured some panorama views.
This is one of those images - that's right, it's technically a panorama, even though the result is square. It's composed of 10 images, in 2 rows of 5 images in portrait orientation. It's been about 10 minutes earlier than the actual sunset photos I posted on 3rd of March. Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com On a very early morning on Mount Victoria. Sunrise, HDR panorama. To compensate for the weakness in dynamic contrast range in digital photography, each of the 21 photos this image is composed of consists actually of 3 images using different exposure. This takes the real image count to 63 single images combined to one.
Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com Interesting clouds last night. No wind, so I played a bit with some HDR photography.

Some moody lighting, weather changing every minute - That's Wellington! Of course my images are available as prints, please contact me if you're interested photos@wernerkaffl.com |
